Seniors (55+)

Better at Home

Update April 1, 2020

CNH is proud to serve as one of the lead HUB agencies for the ‘Safe Seniors, Strong Communities’ initiative funded by United Way. We will be extending our non medical services for seniors including grocery shopping, friendly check ins, and meal delivery.

Seniors in Vancouver in need of assistance during COVID-19 should dial 2-1-1 to be connected to their nearest HUB agency. ‘Safe Seniors, Strong Communities’ means once a senior calls bc211, they will be connected with a volunteer who can help them. Let’s help keep seniors in our community safe. Call 2-1-1 to volunteer or visit bc211.ca to sign up.

The Walking club meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30 am.

Friendly Visiting Program

The Renfrew-Collingwood Better at Home Friendly Visiting Program aims to enhance the social and emotional wellbeing of isolated or lonely seniors in the area by matching them with a volunteer visitor on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Most Friendly Visitors will go to see a senior in their home for one or two hours each visit. By providing isolated seniors with social interaction and companionship, the program attempts to improve seniors’ quality of life. The Friendly Visiting Program is a free service.
