CNH offers recreation and leisure programs for people of all ages and ability levels. We aim to provide a balance of activities that are inclusive and promote health and quality of life for local residents.
How to register
Online registration is now open through our web portal where participants can register 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Registration by phone or in-person is available during regular hours at our Main Site and at the CNH Annex. Please call 604-435-0323 for information.

Spring Break & Summer Camps
Our specialty camps for children ages 6-12 include rhythmic gymnastics, gymnastics, arts & crafts, and more! Programs are held at the Main House and the Annex.

Arts & Crafts
Children will learn a variety of visual art media, methods and contents in a free-flowing, fun environment where children can discover, experience and share the joy of the creative process. Techniques will include painting, collage, casting, relief and using recycled materials to create forms.

Basketball
Basketball is currently the number one sport for elementary aged children. This program allows students develop their physical and basketball fundamental skills, individual and social skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Baton Twirling
Baton class is a combination of dance, gymnastics, and twirling a baton. With baton twirling, you work on hand-eye coordination all while having fun.

Break Dancing/Hip Hop
Breaking is a great activity for kids! It’s fun, engaging, burns lots of energy and boosts memory and concentration. With master B-Boy, Tayio: B-boy Taiyo is a world-famous b-boy hailing from South Korea. His crew, “Last For One”, came from a small town outside of Seoul, and made a big splash in the mid 2000’s. Most notably, winning the International Battle of the Year 2005 in Germany. Taiyo’s crew was highlighted in the feature film “Planet B-boy”, that followed the story of each crew that went to Battle of the Year 2005. Taiyo’s style is based off of his belief that a well-rounded b-boy is a good b-boy. He combines style, power, and foundation to create his dance, and passes it on to his students with great enthusiasm.

Creative Dance
Creative dance is a program for children and youth with various disabilities. This class provides a fun and safe environment to explore different movements, games, and dance routines. Participants that require substantial behavioral or physical support, may be asked to be accompanied by a guardian or support worker.

Creative Writing
Explore creative writing through a variety or exercises. Topics include fiction, non fiction, letters, public speaking, grammar, and spelling. Students are encouraged to think about sentence structure and the power of the written word.
Supplies needed: 2 pencils and an eraser. No supplies are provides or shared: Students must bring their own pencils, erasers, and sharpener. This class includes homework assignments.

Gymnastics
Gym Sense Gymnastics provides an excellent gymnastics program. The safe and supportive atmosphere helps children learn the skills needed to enjoy gymnastics. Classes work on a Can Gym badge system with children progressing at their own pace. All levels are welcome.
Participants who are interested in participating in the BC GYMNAESTRADA annual event will pay $42.00 to the gymnastics instructor to cover the insurance.

Gymnastics Spring Camp

Mixed Media
Fun and messy class of creation, learning and making new friends. Acrylic painting, watercolour, painting, ink, printmaking and more art techniques will be involved. The main project will be step by step, 3D mixed media creation. Come and have fun while creating masterpieces.

Parents & Tots
Games, music and play start us off on a journey of exploration and adventure! Gymnastics, games and physical play activities will help children develop social and motor skills.

Rhythmic Gymnastics
Enjoy the unique combination of dance, gymnastics, music, and self-expression through the use of ribbons, balls, hoops, and ropes with choreographed routines.

Soccer
This program gives your children a positive introduction to sport by teaching high quality soccer skills in a friendly, pressure-free environment. Fundamentals and team skills will be emphasized.

Spring Sports Camp
A fun class for anyone who loves to play soccer and basketball. Learn to play the most beautiful game one week and learn how to improve your shooting and handles the next.

VSO: Meet the Piano
The class is based on the “Music for Little Mozarts” curriculum, using a combination of piano, singing, stories, and fun activities to learn piano. Help your child begin a lifelong friendship with the piano while learning skills such as music note-reading, listening (ear-training), piano-keyboard technique, singing, movement, rhythm, and music appreciation.
*Participants will need to purchase the lesson book and workbook and have access to a piano or keyboard to practice at home.

VSO: Mini Music Makers
Develop child literacy, numeracy, and social skills through music with songs, movement, and play. Parent/guardian participation is required. Registration is per child. Offered by the VSO School of Music.

Wushu
Wushu is a modern combination of Chinese martial arts on the northern and southern chinese form of Kung Fu. This class is desinged to work on conditioning, flexibility, and basic techniques.

Yoga
Using yoga posture, games, storytelling, and songs, in these classes the young yogi will explore their bodies, principles of yoga, and basic developmental movement patterning in a fun and welcoming environment! The classes aim to promote breath work, body awareness, focus and mindfulness from a young age.

Zumba
Zumba® Kids classes feature kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba® choreography. The instructor will break down the steps and add games, activities, and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. Benefits: helps develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives by making fitness fun! Classes incorporate key childhood development elements like leadership, respect, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination, and cultural awareness.
