    Recreation: Qigong (55+)

    Tuesdays, July 8-Sept. 9, 2025 from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the CNH Main Site

    Also known as Baduanjin Qigong, this gentle program uses callisthenics, stretching, and breathing exercises to increase circulation of vital energy (Qi) to maintain good health and fight disease. This exercise is particularly suitable for those who find Tai Chi complicated and physically demanding.

    As of Feb. 1, 2024, we are pleased to announce the expansion of our payment methods to provide greater convenience for our members. In addition to our existing practices of accepting debit cards, cheques and cash, we now welcome Mastercard and Visa payments. It is important to note that the exemption from credit card usage for childcare payments remains in effect. In addition, we are excited to introduce the capability for refunds to be processed back onto cards, further enhancing our commitment to member satisfaction.

    Join us on Monday, Dec. 11 as we work with volunteers from Ave Maria Garden. We’ll be making 12 centrepieces for the Seniors Holiday Luncheon on Dec. 14th!

    Seniors: Shuttle Group Trip (55+)

    Meet new friends and visit a variety of locations in and around Vancouver. We offer two trips a month open to seniors and older adults in Renfrew-Collingwood. Spots fill up quickly so be sure to call in early!

    All trips depart from and return to CNH’s Main Site (5288 Joyce St) via the Seniors’ Shuttle Bus.

    Registration & Cost

    Each trip is $5 per person. No one is turned away for lack of funds. New participations are prioritized.

    Sing songs for fun in any language! This popular monthly program brings older adults together through music. Participants may bring their own music or a volunteer host can help them to find music online.

    Settlement: Leadership Development for Immigrant Women

    6 sessions of “Empowering Journey: Immigrant Women Pathways to Success”

    In this free program consisting of six workshops, we highlight the importance of cultural understanding, diversity and inclusivity in the context of leadership development for immigrant women. CNH staff will work with participants to empower their unique journeys toward personal and professional success.

    We encourage participants to attend as many sessions as possible (descriptions below). Sessions will also feature guest speakers.

    As leaders, online presence is a powerful tool for empowerment, networking and advocacy but it also comes with privacy and security risks. This workshop will harness the potential of social media while safeguarding personal and professional information.
    Nov. 18*Session 5 / Mental Wellness & Resilience: A Path to Empowerment
    Increased awareness of the connection between mental health and practical self-care tools and the importance of building a support network for emotional healing.

    *Nov. 18 combines Sessions 5 & 6 and will run until 1:30 pm.

    Dates & Location

    Workshops take place on Saturday mornings at the CNH Annex (Art Room) from Oct. 14 to Nov. 18, 2023 (no session on Nov. 11). Please note:

    • Sessions 1-4 (Oct. 14-Nov. 4) will run from 10 am to 12 pm
    • Sessions 5-6 are combined (Nov. 18) and will run 10 am to 1:30 pm

    Registration

    Pre-registration is required. Workshops are free and are intended for women who identify as immigrants.

    Collingwood Days: CCPC Movie Night in the Park

    Join us for the Shana: The Wolf’s Music (2014), a coming-of-age story about a First Nations girl who triumphs over obstacles in her young life. Her new teacher discovers her extraordinary gifts as a violinist. When Shana goes on a spiritual journey, she befriends a wild wolf who guides her and she reconnects with her ancestors, including her mother.  A moving, magical, and authentic inter-cultural motion picture.
