President & Executive Director’s Report
Written by Davy Chiu, president of the board of directors & Betty Lepps, executive director

A Year of Growth & Transformation
This past year, Collingwood Neighbourhood House experienced meaningful change and renewal. We are deeply grateful for the dedication of all of our team members and volunteers, whose efforts have helped us reimagine our space and services to better meet the evolving needs of the Renfrew-Collingwood community. These changes reflect our commitment to adapting within a shifting financial and political landscape, while staying rooted in our mission.
“Guided by our vision, mission, and values, we turned challenges into opportunities—driving innovation and progress. We partnered with community groups to advocate against federal funding cuts and worked to reduce early years rental fee increases, easing the impact on families and supporting financial stability.
“New partnerships, including with the RISE Patient Advisory Committee, led to a possible co-created cookbook with our community development team. A generous endowment donation sustained youth settlement programs, while 30 Indigenous youth joined the C.R.E.W. canoe journey across Coast Salish Territories. Operations focused on improving organizational efficiency. RISE Community Health Centre marked its 5th anniversary, having welcomed over 85,000 visits across its clinic, outreach sites, and the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood.”
This year has been about building a future that strengthens our sense of belonging and growth. With new structures, dedicated team members, volunteers, and community support, we’re creating fresh opportunities for the Renfrew-Collingwood community to thrive.
We’re excited to move forward, meeting the evolving needs of a diverse and growing community.

Changing lives
2024-2025

“I am not sure how many [more] years I am able to teach. But every morning when I wake up, I know my life is meaningful; I am helping others and receive joy from others. I am happier now.”
— Ingrid Guo, Hula Along program instructor
Read more from how hula programs at CNH are creating connections in our recent story.

“The medical assistance fund led to massive relief that a significant chunk of my yearly medical expenses was covered by this fund.”
— Melissa, recipient of the Medical Assistance Fund
Read more from the medical assistance fund in our September 2025 story.

“I think something special about working at RISE is even though we’re not necessarily able to change the broader system, we’re able to do some small part that maybe helps one person or one family succeed through those barriers and get to that next place.”
— Tharuna Abbu, RISE family physician
Read more from Tharuna in our February 2025 interview about working at RISE Community Health Centre.
