Collingwood Neighbourhood House (CNH) is a not-for-profit Society serving the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood of East Vancouver. CNH’s mandate is to promote the well-being of the Renfrew-Collingwood community by providing leadership and working collaboratively with individuals, families, agencies and other groups to develop and support inclusive, innovative, sustainable initiatives and services that respond to the community’s social, educational, economic, health, cultural and recreational needs.

RISE Community Health Centre (CHC) is the newest department of Collingwood Neighbourhood House. RISE is a community-based CHC that is part of the Primary Care Network strategy and funded by the Ministry of Health. RISE supports the health and well-being of Renfrew-Collingwood residents who are facing barriers to achieving health by offering community-based primary care and health promotion services. Populations of focus include Newcomers, LGBTQ2S+, Indigenous, Isolated Seniors, Youth, people experiencing Homelessness, those working in the Sex Trade, and those experiencing Mental Health and Substance Use issues. Services are delivered by a diverse interdisciplinary team, working in partnership with other Collingwood Neighbourhood House departments and partnering agencies.

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Physiotherapist to join the RISE Community Health Centre Team at CNH. The position provides individual physiotherapy treatment to RISE CHC Primary Care Clients and group physio-related health workshops to the broader Renfrew-Collingwood Community. The Physiotherapist will work as part of an interdisciplinary primary health care team, in collaboration with Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, Registered Nurses, Dietitians, Counsellors, Social Workers, Community health workers, medical office assistants and more. Referrals to physiotherapy are made in-house and collaboration of care is well supported amongst all team members. The physiotherapist will utilize their skill-set by providing manual therapy, exercise teaching, home program prescription, and education. 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia
  • Preferred two years or more of experience providing physiotherapy as part of an interdisciplinary team in a community setting
  • Training and demonstrated ability to provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment related across the lifespan, to clients with a variety of orthopedic conditions including but not limited to sprains/strains, tendinopathies, chronic pain syndrome, posture correction, concussion therapy and vestibular rehabilitation
  • Demonstrated ability to provide physio-related health teaching in a group setting
  • An egalitarian philosophy and non-judgmental attitude (i.e. gender, culture, age, race, sexual orientation, language, ability and more)
  • Ability to provide services through outreach
  • Previous experience providing culturally safe, trauma-informed care to marginalized populations
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary, culturally diverse team
  • Ability to employ teaching strategies to transfer knowledge to engage clients, families and groups in planning and self-management of care
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, one-on-one and in group settings, with colleagues, clients and their families
  • Ability to deal effectively with conflict situations, manage challenging behavior, and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques
  • Broad knowledge of mental health issues and substance use and treatment, including harm reduction approaches
  • Broad knowledge of local community health and social service resources and referral options
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, manage and meet tight deadlines
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Computer literacy to operate computerized information system and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software

JOB DETAILS

  • Salary range: $42.56–$52.82/hour (based on years of experience)
    • five percent (5%) of pay for all hours worked in lieu of Statutory Holiday Pay
    • Six percent (6%) of your straight time pay in lieu of vacations
  • Schedule: This position is to provide sick leave and vacation coverage. For the month of July, the schedule will be two days per week, from 9:00am to 5:00pm, which includes a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break and two paid fifteen‑minute (15) coffee breaks per day.

  • Expected Start Date: ASAP
