Collingwood Neighbourhood House (CNH) is a not-for-profit Society serving the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood of East Vancouver. CNH’s mandate is to promote the well-being of the Renfrew-Collingwood community by providing leadership and working collaboratively with individuals, families, agencies and other groups to develop and support inclusive, innovative, sustainable initiatives and services that respond to the community’s social, educational, economic, health, cultural and recreational needs.

CNH Youth Services Summer Jobs Pool

Program Overview

The Peer 2 Peer Program at CNH is a program comprised of volunteer youth facilitators, mentors, and staff who live and work in and around the Renfrew-Collingwood community. Peer 2 Peer strives to be a youth-led, supportive, and collaborative program as well as a place where youth are empowered to create the change they would like to see and be in society. We accomplish this through learning about relevant health and social issues affecting youth today, mentorship, leadership opportunities, skill-building, community engagement, and peer-to-peer education.

Job Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead online and/or in-person events, activities, or workshops based on the program’s focus areas
  • Offer mentorship and support to youth facilitators and mentors during the summer program planning process
  • Collaborate with other CNH departments and/or community organizations to offer summer programming
  • Assist with program marketing material development and promotions
  • Provide additional support to the Peer 2 Peer Program Coordinator as needed
  • Support other youth programs and youth activities as needed
  • Submit daily work summaries and attend weekly check-in meetings with supervisor

Level of Education

Secondary or post-secondary education with an interest in youth and social work, recreation, social justice, counselling, and/or educational studies

Preferred Qualifications and Assets

  • Previous experience working with youth (e.g. facilitating workshops, support work, developing programs, etc.)
  • Understanding of relevant social issues facing youth today or a willingness to learn (e.g. mental health, racism, 2SLGBTQ+ rights, climate change, sexual health, gender identity, healthy relationships, bullying, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications
  • Knowledge of resources and services in Renfrew-Collingwood and/or at Collingwood Neighbourhood House

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Applicant must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. International students are not eligible participants.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Before starting their work, staff must have a valid first aid certificate
  • Cleared Criminal Record Search

    Job Details

    Salary: $20.25/hour

    Term: June 22, 2026 – August 29, 2026 (10 weeks)

    Schedule: 30 hours/week, Mon-Fri or Tue-Sat, mainly between the hours of 10am-5pm

    Location: Collingwood Neighbourhood House (5288 Joyce Street, Vancouver, BC)
