    Program Description: We distribute free food to our community members. We are looking for people who is friendly and would love to help our neighbours

    We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and especially encourage male volunteers to join our team.

    Day(s) and Time: Every Thursday from 11:15 AM to 1:15 PM

    Duties:

    • Setting up tables
    • Handing out produces to participants
    • Building connections with participants and volunteers
    •  Cleaning tables and the area

    Requirements:

    • Comfortable in a multicultural environment
    • Capable of handling some lifting of produce boxes
    • Able to be friendly to our community members
    • Completion of a Criminal Records Check

    Name of Program: Norquay Food Forest

    Number of Volunteers: 4

    Position Start Date: As soon as possible

    Program Description: At the Norquay Food Forest, we are working to restore and maintain the community greenspace. The Norquay Food Forest is a space for the community to come together to grow native plants, food and medicine. Our gaol is to maintain the space for future use to host workshops, walks, and celebrations for the community. Programs supported by the Norquay Food Forest include Community Care Harvest Box, Community Fridge, Garden Workshops, and Food Forest.

    Day(s) and Time: Once a week on Wednesdays – 2 hours from 2pm to 4pm. Hours flexible and subject to change. Support needed from June to September/mid-October.

    Location:  Norquay Food Forest Garden, 2732 Horley Street, Vancouver.

    Duties

    • Planting.
    • Weeding.
    • Watering.
    • Harvesting.
    • Washing and storing produce.
    • Caring for tools and equipment.
    • Early spring clean-up and late fall clean-up.
    • Building small structures (cold frames, trellises, etc.)

    Requirements

    • All experience levels at gardening are welcomed.
    • Criminal Record Search for vulnerable sectors required.
    • Ability to lift up to 20lbs.

    Name of Program: CD – Rooftop Community Garden

    Position Start Date: As soon as possible

    Program Description: On the Rooftop Garden at Collingwood Neighbourhood House, we grow fresh vegetables to use them at the Neighbourhood House’s many food and cooking programs. Our garden is a demonstration site showing how to grow food organically and in small urban spaces, such as balconies or small raised beds. Programs supported by the garden include, but are not limited to: Community Lunch, Community Kitchens, Canning Workshops, Community Care Harvest Box, Community Fridge. We need active and passionate volunteer to support stewardship, maintenance, and programming.

    Day(s) and Time: Once a week on Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm up until mid-October.

    Location: Collingwood Neighbourhood House.
