    Program Description:

    The Social Prescribing Program aims to support socially isolated, low income, moderately frail, older adults and seniors, to reach their health and wellness goals through appropriate referrals and advocacy to community resources.

    Day(s) and Time: Two (2) hours per week. Ongoing basis weekly. Hours between 8am to 4pm TBD between senior and volunteer

    Location: In senior’s home near Nanaimo/Hastings in Vancouver

    Duties:

    • Visit with the senior in their home
    • Walk/bus with the senior to the grocery store and bank acting as moral support
    • No physical support is needed or permitted

    Requirements:

    • Criminal Records Check Clearance
    • Two character reference checks needed (past volunteer supervisor, employer, teacher/professor)
    • Vaccine records required
    • Signing of CNH onboarding documents
    • Must be comfortable being alone in a home with a senior without staff supervision

    Name of Project: CNH 40th Anniversary Fundraiser – A night of music, friends and connections

    Program/Event Description:

    As part of CNH’s mandate to promote the well-being of the Renfrew-Collingwood Community by providing leadership and working collaboratively with individuals, families, agencies and other groups to develop and support inclusive, innovative, sustainable initiatives and services that respond to the community’s social, economic, health, cultural, and recreational needs; CNH is celebrating its 40th anniversary of community services, connections and impact with a special Anniversary Gala Night on Saturday May 23rd. This milestone event will bring together community members, partners, donors, and supporters to celebrate all our contributions to the Renfrew-Collingwood community for four decades.

    Location for the event: Anvil Centre (New Westminister) weekly meetings will be held at the CNH main House on Thursday afternoons between 2-3pm

    Duties:

    • Assist the project manager with meetings with stakeholders, tracking and monitoring event status
    • Assist with reporting and updates of event to management
    • Assist with the coordination of event timeline, task list and key dates
    • Assist with event logistics and event flow
    • Other duties as assigned by project manager

    Requirements:

    • Experience in project management or event planning
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills
    • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
    • Active listener and tech-savvy
    • Passion for community service, active member of RC community preferred
    • Valid Criminal Records Check clearance for vulnerable sectors

    Assets:

    • Second language
    • Valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle

    Bread Sorting & Bagging Volunteer – Tuesdays and Fridays (#CD2026-2)

    Program Description:

    Every Tuesday and Friday, we receive donated bread from COBS Bread. Volunteers help sort and bag the bread so it can be distributed to community members during the Food Drop program on Thursdays, supporting local food access and reducing food waste.

    Day(s) and Time: Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am

    Location: Collingwood Neighbourhood House – Main House, 5288 Joyce Street

    Duties:

    • Go to P2 to collect donated bread placed on a cart
    • Push the cart to the kitchen area (staff is available to assist if needed)
    • Sort and bag donated bread in the kitchen
    • Clean and sanitize the kitchen island table after bagging
    • Return the bagged bread to P2 and store it in the freezer for distribution on Thursday

    Requirements:

    • Comfortable handling food items
    • Ability to stand for short periods
    • Ability to lift 5+ kg (approximately 11 lbs.)
    • Completion of a Criminal Records Check focused in vulnerable sectors

    Program Description:

    Collingwood Neighbourhood House partners with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank to distribute essential food items—such as fresh produce, pasta, milk, and rice—to programs supporting community members facing food insecurity.

    We need dedicated volunteers to help unload and organize these supplies every Friday from 12 pm to 1 pm (except the last Friday of the month).

    Your support ensures food reaches those who need it most.

    Days / Time: Fridays, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm (except the last Friday of the month)

    Location: Collingwood Neighbourhood House – Main House, 5288 Joyce Street

    Duties:

    • Unloading food from the GVFB truck into the CNH Main House
    • Assist staff in transferring items to their storage areas

    Requirements:

    • Ability to lift boxes (up to 30 lbs.)
    • Completion of a Criminal Records Check focused in vulnerable sectors

    Every Wednesday you will pick up pre-packaged grocery orders at the Grandview Save on Foods and deliver the orders to seniors in the Renfrew-Collingwood Neighbourhood.

    Program Description: Join the Grocery Shopping Program at Collingwood Neighbourhood House and start making a difference in the lives of vulnerable seniors in your community. Every Wednesday between 10am to 2pm, drivers will pick up pre-packaged grocery orders at the Grandview Save on Foods and deliver the orders to seniors in the Renfrew-Collingwood Neighbourhood. With your help, isolated and mobility restricted seniors can stay in their homes independently while receiving grocery deliveries. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with the community and to learn about food security, older adults/seniors, and to provide valuable community outreach and support. This role is a great fit for anybody of any age, whether you’re a young person looking to help and learn about issues facing seniors, or an older adult yourself looking to give back and help others in your time off or retirement. Additional details: Emailing required. We reimburse your mileage at $0.72 cents per kilometer. If you don’t have access to a car, we can put you on our MODO carshare account at no cost to you!

    Duties: Pick up pre-packed groceries at Grandview Save on Foods.Drop off groceries around the neighbourhood and collect payment when necessary.Greet and interact with seniors.
    Requirements: Valid Driver’s License (minimum Class 7 (N)).Vulnerable Sector/Criminal Record Check clearance.Vaccinated against COVID-19 (2 doses) – highly suggested.Empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgmental.

    Program Description:

    We distribute free food to our community members. We are looking for volunteers comfortable with driving our shuttle to pick up and drop off food from the food bank for our Thursdays Food Hub program on Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM (1 or 2 times per month)

    Help us serve families in our community by providing reliable deliveries of rescued groceries for our program’s distribution.

    Days / Time: Thursdays, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am (1 to 2 times per month)

    Location: Collingwood Neighbourhood House – Main House

    Duties:

    • Driving our shuttle from Collingwood Neighbourhood House to CityReach Care Society
    • Loading boxes of produce and food into the shuttle
    • Driving from the CityReach to Collingwood Neighbourhood House
    • Unloading boxes for the Thursday Food Hub program

    Requirements:

    • Class 4 or Driver’s License required
    • Capable of handling some lifting of produce boxes
    • Completion of a Criminal Records Check
