The Systems Change Coordinator focuses on community development through a system change approach to promote social justice, equity, and anti-racism. This role involves connecting with community members, staff, volunteers, organizations, and government to build capacity and amplify diverse voices, including Indigenous, Black, and racialized communities; immigrants; newcomers; people with differing abilities; LGBTQIA2S+ individuals; women and femmes; and seniors, fostering resilience and social innovation.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in systems change, anti-oppression, community development or a related education background, preference for degrees in Community Development, Sociology, or Social Services.
  • Solid understanding and application of systems change and community engagement frameworks.
  • Commitment to anti-racism, social justice, equity, inclusion, and policy development.
  • Proven experience in programming, outreach, evaluation, and multi-project coordination.
  • Familiarity with literacy programming and community committee engagement.
  • Strong facilitation skills for both in-person and online settings, especially in anti-racism work.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English, plus organizational and administrative expertise.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, agency and self-awareness, with a proven ability to cultivate inclusive and welcoming community environments. Highly adaptable and proactive, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Assets

  • Knowledge of Renfrew-Collingwood resources and networks; residency in the neighborhood is a plus.
  • Proficiency in additional language(s).
  • BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Competency with online platforms like Teams, MS Office, Canva and Mailchimp.

Responsibilities

Program Delivery

  • Plan, promote and implement programs and special events, including healing circles, anti-racism, and literacy programs.
  • Advocate for the anti-racism policy at CNH and directly support related trainings for staff.
  • Coordinate community committees, including the Renfrew-Collingwood Anti-Racism Committee, Queer in Collingwood Committee, and Literacy Task Group.
  • Recruit and support volunteers for programs and committees in collaboration with the Volunteering Program manager.
  • Engage and assess the needs of community by town hall meetings and feedback sessions.
  • Support neighborhood resiliency and social innovation through asset mapping.
  • Participate in community network meetings and build up partnerships with community stakeholders and funders, including Resilience BC and Literacy Network.
  • Work alongside managers and staff to ensure all programs delivered are accessible, welcoming, safe and inclusive.

Administration and Finance

  • Maintain program and financial records, including attendance, receipts, surveys, statistics, and participant stories, for evaluation and growth.
  • Assist with grants researching to explore opportunities for sustained program delivery.

Job Details

  • Salary: $25.85/hr with progression and benefits that includes extended health and dental.
  • Schedule: 20 hrs per week. Preferred availability on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday depending on the work schedule. The schedule may include some evenings and weekends.
  • Location: CNH main site (5288 Joyce St.) and CNH Annex (3690 Vanness Ave).
  • Expected Start Date: January 14, 2025.
  • This is a unionized position covered by a Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 1936.
