Collingwood Neighbourhood House (CNH) is a not-for-profit Society serving the Renfrew-Collingwood (RC) neighbourhood of East Vancouver. The Older Adults Programs & Services Team at CNH delivers a wide range of programs and services to improve the ability of seniors to live independently at home and remain connected to their communities.  From wellness to group trips, light housekeeping to information and referral, events, educational workshops, and food security our programs foster connection and bring joy to our community.

Job Overview
CNH is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-minded Seniors Driver/Coordinator to join our Older Adults Programs & Services team. This role supports the delivery of a new pilot program called Vancouver Affordable Seniors Transportation (VAST) to provide affordable, culturally responsive transportation services for older adults across East Vancouver. In this role the coordinator will work directly with the Older Adults Programs & Services Team at CNH in addition to the teams at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and South Vancouver Neighbourhood House (SVNH) to coordinate and deliver group trips and one-to-one rides for seniors living in North East Vancouver using 3 vehicles including a 15-passenger shuttle similar to HandyDART.

Responsibilities

Program Delivery

  • Safely operate CNH’s 15-passenger shuttle, and partner agencies’ 8-passenger vans to transport seniors to medical appointments, errand hubs, social programs, and community outings
  • Inspection of vehicles before use, reporting any problems or issues with the vehicle
  • Ensure safety of riders (i.e. enforce seat belts, no standing while vehicle in motion, provide assistance as needed)
  • Coordinate ride bookings with participants, staff, and partner agencies
  • Schedule and communicate with volunteers and contracted service providers
  • Provide friendly, respectful, and culturally appropriate support to all riders
  • Assist with rider intakes and help match seniors with appropriate transportation options

Communications

  • Collaborate with adjacent teams at partner organizations as needed to coordinate service delivery
  • Prepare promotion materials for monthly newsletters
  • Promote and outreach to Older Adults in East Vancouver who can benefit from the service

Administrative & Internal Tasks

  • Attend regularly scheduled meeting with partner agencies and provide updates to service delivery and troubleshooting
  • Keep up-to-date records on vehicle logs, participant’s rides, partner rides, group trips and reporting criteria
  • Responsible for vehicle maintenance, and ensuring that vehicle is taken in for necessary repairs and regular tune-ups
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Clear Criminal Record Search

Qualifications

  • Valid BC Class 4 Driver’s Licence (Unrestricted) and clean driving record
  • Strong spoken and written English skills
  • Experience working with older adults or vulnerable populations (paid or volunteer)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, use sound judgment, and manage multiple tasks
  • Comfort using basic digital tools (e.g., email, Excel, ride tracking scheduling, Canva)

Assets

  • First Aid certification
  • Experience coordinating volunteers or community programs
  • Conversational Cantonese and/or Mandarin

Job Details

  • Salary: $26.62/hr with progression
  • Schedule: 30 hours/week, 5 days a week, Monday to Friday.
  • Location: Based at Collingwood Neighbourhood House (5288 Joyce Street, Vancouver)
  • Start date: July 2, 2025
  • End date: April 3, 2026 (potentially extended based on funding)
  • This position is covered by a Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 1936
