Program Description:
The Rooftop Garden Volunteer cares for the Rooftop garden at the CNH Main House, with the support of a group of community residents and neighbours. The Rooftop garden is an open area for the community to enjoy gardening, connect with community, and enhance their gardening skills. We also have regular activities, including compost workshops, skills workshops and herbs workshops. We are looking for a passionate volunteer to support stewardship, maintenance, and programming of this community space.
Day(s) and Time:
Once a week on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays – 1 hour, between 4pm to 6pm. Schedule determined based on convenience and time availability
Location – Rooftop Garden: 5288 Joyce St, Vancouver BC
Duties:
- Maintain the garden with support of staff by weeding, cleaning tools and other related activities
- Grow extra crops to share with food justice programs
- Keep garden log notes
Provide garden orientations to participants when needed
Requirements:
- Knowledge of gardening duties and garden tools
- Maintain consistent and thorough online communications with Foodlands team
- Ability to work with people and with little supervision
- Maintain a respectful and amicable demeanor
- Must submit a Criminal Records Check clearance
- Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 (2 full doses)
