JOB OVERVIEW

The Adult Drop-in Volleyball and Soccer program and the Children’s soccer and basketball programs are some of the most popular recreation activities at CNH. This on-call, casual substitute position supports the smooth operation of these programs by filling in when the main instructor is unavailable. Responsibilities include overseeing adult drop-in sports and coaching children ages 6-13 in soccer and basketball, following established program plans. The successful candidate will create an inclusive, engaging, and safe environment for all participants, ensuring both age groups enjoy high-quality recreation experiences during their sessions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Adult Volleyball & Soccer Supervisor:

  • Lead the setup and take down of volleyball nets and soccer equipment
  • Administer First Aid when necessary and manage emergency situations as they arise
  • Create a fun, enjoyable, and safe atmosphere for non-competitive play
  • Demonstrate understanding of and respect for adult recreation program goals
  • Maintain positive interactions with participants and handle any conflicts effectively

Children’s Soccer & Basketball Instructor

  • Step in to deliver engaging, age-appropriate soccer and basketball sessions for children ages 6-13 when the main instructor is unavailable
  • Follow the program plan provided by the main instructor, teaching fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a fun, supportive environment
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children during sessions
  • Communicate with children, parents, and caregivers about session details or changes as needed
  • Set up and take down equipment for soccer and basketball activities as per program requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Experience working with adult participants in soccer and volleyball programs 
  • Experience coaching or teaching children’s soccer and basketball programs
  • Current First Aid certificate required
  • Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to deal with and prevent conflict situation among participants 
  • Ability to work within a multicultural/intercultural environment
  • Must have or be willing to get a Criminal Record Check
  • Must be fully vaccinated
  • Second language an asset

Salary: $23.12

Schedule:

Mondays: 8:30 – 10:15 pm

Tuesdays: 3:45 – 6:15 pm & 8:30 – 10:15 pm

Wednesdays: 3:45 – 5:45 pm & 8:30 – 10:15 pm

Thursdays: 8:30 – 10:15 pm

  • Location: 5288 Joyce Street
  • Expected Start Date: On-Call, as needed
  • This is a unionized position covered by a Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 1936
