Youth

Collingwood Neighbourhood House offers a range of recreation programs and activities for all ages. We strive to provide a good balance of activities for people of all ability levels and interests in our neighbourhood.

HOW TO REGISTER:

To sign up for any of the programs below, do one of the following:
– Call CNH at 604-435-0323 (Joyce location) or 604-428-9142 (Annex location)
– Come visit the reception desk at our Joyce location or Annex location

FEES AND MEMBERSHIP

A $2 CNH membership is required for: Youth up to 15 years old to participate in recreation programs and youth aged 16-24 to participate in all programs.

Those aged 10-18 can also purchase a $10 membership for the Youth Centre.

Collingwood Indigenous Youth C.R.E.W Club (Ages 12-29)
Cost: Free!

The Renfrew-Collingwood Indigenous Youth C.R.E.W (Culture, Recreation, Education and Work) Club is a youth-led program that offers Indigenous youth opportunities to participate in traditional canoeing in large Northern Dancer canoes. The program offers healthy, outdoor activities, building canoe and water safety skills, increasing cultural knowledge and canoe protocols as well as socializing positively with Indigenous youth and adult role models. Through these activities, the focus is on Indigenous youth between the ages of 12 to 29, to learn new skills, enhance their leadership roles, encourage them to lead program activities and become more involved in community life.

Peer 2 Peer Mentorship
Cost: Free!
Location: Main site

Peer 2 Peer works in conjunction with Windermere Secondary School and its family of elementary schools. This is a peer preventative education program that works with youth on topics such as drug and alcohol misuse, bullying, homelessness and sexual exploitation. The program focuses on involving peers teaching peers about such issues and providing information and tools to help them make healthy decisions. Youth will gain presentation and leadership skills as well as awareness of social issues.

Youth Centre (Ages 10-18)
Cost: $10/year
Location: Main site

Youth aged 10-18 are invited to drop by CNH twice a week to enjoy a variety of recreational, support, and educational services. Activities include: table tennis, foosball, video games, computer lab, gym games and sports, cooking classes, homework club and space to hang out and relax.

Computer lab
Access the computer lab for Internet use and word processing.
Dates & Times: Fridays, 4:00-9:00 pm and Saturdays, 4:00-8:00 pm
 
Homework club
Get help with your homework. Volunteers will help with difficult problems and strengthening concepts.
Dates & Times: Fridays, 4:00-5:30 pm
 
Kids’ Kitchen
Learn to make healthy meals and develop your skills in the kitchen.
Dates & Times: Fridays, 5:00-7:00 pm
 
Open gym
Drop in to play basketball, volleyball or other sports. Activities and times may vary.
Dates & Times:
Fridays, 4:00-6:00 pm and 7:15-8:30 pm
Saturdays, 4:00-6:00 pm
