Better at Home Program
The Renfrew-Collingwood Better at Home program is to support seniors (55+) in maintaining independence and staying connected with their communities by providing non-medical support services. The program is funded by the Government of British Columbia and managed by the United Way. The services offered include a senior’s shuttle, light housekeeping and yard work, a walking club and friendly visiting.
The Seniors’ Shuttle provides door-to-door transportation to take seniors where they need to go into the community, such as medical appointments, grocery shopping, running errands, etc.
The shuttle runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Fees are based on a sliding scale and are as follows:

The group meets in the lobby of CNH main house to walk locally in the neighbourhood on Mondays or make special trips to explore other areas further away on Wednesdays. This is a FREE program. The Walking club meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30 am.
Friendly Visiting Program:
The Renfrew-Collingwood Better at Home Friendly Visiting Program aims to enhance the social and emotional wellbeing of isolated or lonely seniors in the area by matching them with a volunteer visitor on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Most Friendly Visitors will go to see a senior in their home for one or two hours each visit. By providing isolated seniors with social interaction and companionship, the program attempts to improve seniors’ quality of life. The Friendly Visiting Program is a free service.
