Job Overview

The Child Care Worker is responsible to assist with providing a safe, stimulating environment for children in accordance with the Community Care Facilities Licensing Regulations and the developmental needs of the newcomer children. As well as taking active role on implementing and delivering the program’s activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with a team to plan and implement a quality program for children (multi-age group from 18 months to 5 years old), maintain healthy relationships and communicate effectively and respectfully with children, families and colleagues.
  • Be familiar with the expectations and requirements of Community Care Childminding Licensing
  • Support each child’s holistic development using the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Demonstrate understanding of and respect for the competency of newcomer children
  • Be aware of and work within the ECEBC Code of Ethics and Care for Newcomer Model
  • Participate in ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • Responsible Adult Certification
  • Current First Aid Certificate required.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Must be creative, have initiative, be energetic and have good sense of humor.
  • Ability to communicate and problem solve effectively.
  • Second language is an asset

Job Details

Salary:  $21.98/hr to start *this position is not eligible for the provincial wage enhancement*

Schedule:  20 hours per week: Monday to Thursday

  • 9:00 – 11:30am & 12:30 – 3:00pm (split shift)

Location:  3690 Vanness Ave. Vancouver. BC

Start date: April 8, 2025

End Date: March 31, 2026

This is a unionized position covered by a Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 1936
