Job Overview

The Families Branching Out Child Care Worker is responsible to assist with the planning, implementing and delivery of a family resource program for families and children under 6 years of age within the Early Years Department.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Work with a team to plan and implement a quality program for children (multi-age group from newborn to 5 years old), maintain healthy relationships and communicate effectively and respectfully with children, families and colleagues.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, welcoming environment for all program participants
  • Ensure the safety of the participants at all times by supervising and monitoring program activities.
  • Share general maintenance responsibilities with other staff and volunteers (setting up/cleaning up, washing toys, equipment etc.)
  • Participate in ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • Completed 20 hours of Responsible Adult training
  • Current First Aid Certificate required.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Must be creative, take initiative, be energetic and have good sense of humor.
  • Ability to communicate and problem solve effectively.
  • Must be able to physically participate with children in recreational programming.
  • Second language is an asset
  • Must have or be willing to get a Criminal Record Check Clearance Letter
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19

Job Details

  • Salary: $20.92-$21.74/hr
  • Schedule: 4 hours per week – Monday 3pm -7pm
  • Location: 5288 Joyce Street, Vancouver
  • Expected Term date: July 2024 – June 2025

This is a unionized position covered by a Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 1936.
