  • About us

Collingwood Neighbourhood House has been very honoured to receive a number of awards, recognizing its work.

2012 Nesika Award

The Nesika Awards recognize an individual, a business, an organization and one youth from British Columbia for contributing to raising awareness of diversity, multiculturalism and anti-racism issues, promoting respect and inclusion and creating a welcoming environment in our community. CNH was cited because it “serves the most culturally diverse neighbourhood in Vancouver and embeds intercultural ways of living, playing, learning and working together by offering over 100 programs and services and helping dozens of community development initiatives.”

2011 125 Places That Matter

The 125 Places That Matter project was organized by the Vancouver Heritage Foundation to recognize the 125th anniversary of Vancouver’s incorporation. CNH was recognized as one of the 125 Places That Matter in Vancouver for having grown from a tiny storefront office to a vibrant organization that serves a very diverse neighbourhood through a broad range of programs, services, classes and events.

2007 European-based BMW Award for Intercultural Learning

Collingwood Neighbourhood House with Leonie Sandercock received this award recognizing CNH’s work in one of Vancouver’s most culturally diverse communities. The committee noted that for 20 years CNH had offered neighbourhood residents a wide range of programmes from communal activities to social services, bringing together people of all nationalities and generations in an exemplary manner. The neighbourhood house is the first point of contact for new immigrants and an enduring magnet for families, children and senior citizens, who not only profit from the wide range of activities but also help to organise them.

1999 City of Vancouver Cultural Harmony Award

Collingwood Neighbourhood House was recognized for its commitment to cultural diversity and community harmony through its programs and actions.
