Note: A $2 CNH membership is required for seniors.

Community Lunch

Healthy, delicious & affordable! Take it home or eat here and make new friends. Ask reception for this month’s menu. All proceeds support Collingwood Neighbourhood House Seniors’ Wellness programs. Call 604-435-0323 for more information.

Dates & Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 12:00 pm
Cost:
 $6 for seniors, $7 for adults, $32 Seniors Lunch pass (6 meals)

Seniors’ Social Programs

Monday Fun Day (Seniors’ Wellness Group)

This group meets for a variety of activities including guest speakers, trips, potlucks and entertainment. Please ask reception for the current schedule or click HERE. Join the group for ‘Birthdays & Bingo’ on the first Monday of every month. Bring a small prize (or $2.00)  for Bingo. –No program on public holidays.-

Dates & Times: Mondays, 1:15 pm – 3:00 p.m.

Seniors’ Coffee Social

Join us for coffee, snacks & conversation. It’s also a great space to share a craft or art project you are working on, such as knitting or drawing.
Dates & Times: Thursdays, 10:15 am – 11:30 pm.
Cost: $1.00 – FREE first Thursday of the month!

Karaoke

Come to sing, listen, dance and have fun! We have access to a wide variety of music in different languages.

Dates & Times: Every third Thursday of the month, 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.
Cost: FREE

Seniors’ Recreation Programs

Qigong

Also known as Baduanjin Qigong, this gentle program uses calisthenics, stretching and breathing exercises to increase circulation of vital energy (Qi) to maintain good health and fight diseases. This exercise is particularly suitable for those who find Tai Chi complicated and physically demanding. -No class on Nov 13-

Dates & Times: Tuesdays, 9:30 – 10:30 am.
Cost: Drop-in $4.00 or seniors pass available.

Chinese Calligraphy for Beginners

This program is meant for seniors who are interested in the art of Chinese calligraphy. It includes a brief history of Chinese calligraphy and introduces the basic elements of the standard Chinese calligraphy script known as “Kaishu “, with step-by-step instruction for each of the 8 basic strokes. Recent studies show that calligraphy has a positive effect on our physical, mental and brain health and can help with emotional stability, stress relief, concentration, and cognition. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Maximum of 14 participants, first come first serve.

Dates & Times:
Thursdays, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Fridays, 12:00 – 1:30 pm
Cost: Drop in $8.00 or $60/10 sessions.

Zumba Gold

Combines catchy Latin tunes with choreography for an aerobic workout that feels like a dance party. It is accessible for beginners, seniors or anyone needing modification in their exercise routine. -No class on Nov 13, Dec 7-

Thursdays, 1:15 – 2:15 p.m.
Fridays, 12:40 – 1:40 p.m.

Seniors’ Drop-in Badminton

Bring your own racket. No instruction provided. Come early to claim your spot.

Dates & Times: Saturdays, 2:30 – 4:15 p.m.
Cost: Drop-in $4.00 or seniors pass available.

Gentle Chair Yoga

Enjoy safe, slow-moving exercises for increased joint range of motion, relaxation and improved stamina and muscular strength. Suitable for people with all forms of arthritis and various levels of ability.

Dates & Times: Wednesdays, 1:45 – 2:45 p.m.
Cost: Drop-in $3.50 or or seniors pass available.

Seniors’ Drop-in Kundalini Yoga

Relax, renew and rejuvenate through breathing, exercises, stretching and meditation. -No class on Sept 3, Oct 8, Nov 12 –

Mondays and Thursdays, 9:00 – 10:00 am
Second Thursday of the month 8:45-9:45 am
Cost: Drop-in $3.50 or seniors pass available.  Program ongoing.

24 Forms Simplified Tai Chi

Integrate mind, body, and qi (energy). Keep blood and energy circulation smooth in the entire body to prevent disease. -No class on Sept 3, Oct 8, Nov 12, Dec 7-

Dates & Times: Mondays, 10:30 – 11:30 am & Fridays, 9:30 – 10:30 am
Cost: Drop-in $3.50 or seniors pass available. Program ongoing.

32/42 Forms Tai Chi Sword

Tai Chi Sword is a weaponry form of Tai Chi Chuan in which the sword is considered an extension of the body. The integration helps to direct body energy through the sword and bring movements which are smooth and graceful. 32 Form is a simplified form derived from the traditional Yang style. 42 Form is a standard routine for international competition, combining the Yang, Chen, and Sun styles.

Prerequisite for 32 Form: 24 Form Tai Chi, 48 Form Tai Chi or experience with Tai Chi Chaun.
Date & Times: Wednesdays, 11:15 a.m – 12:15 pm  & 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

Prerequisite for 42 Form: Successful completion of the 32 Form.
Dates & Times: Wednesdays, 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Cost: Drop-in $4.00 or seniors pass available. Program Ongoing.
Maximum 12 participants per class. Participants must buy their own swords.

42/48 Forms Tai Chi For Seniors

42 Forms Tai Chi is a condensed version of 48 Forms Tai Chi. As the official competition routine for international tournaments, it embraces four major styles, namely Chen, Yang, Wu, and Sun.  42 Forms Tai Chi and 48 Forms Tai Chi nurture good health and enhance body balance, relaxation, and concentration. Discount passes available. -No class on Sept 3, Oct 8, Nov 12, Dec 7-

Seniors’ Strength & Stretch

Improve your muscle strength and endurance using light resistance equipment. These exercises may be done in seated, standing or floor positions. -No class on Dec 7-

Wednesdays, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Cost: Drop in $3.50 or seniors pass available. Program ongoing.

Chinese Classical Dance For Adults and Seniors

Great way to exercise, maintain an energetic lifestyle and learn new skills and Chinese culture. These dances are suitable for all ages. -No class on Dec 7-. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR EACH SESSION.

Wednesdays, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.
Fridays 12:00 – 1:30 pm

Cost: Drop-in $5.25 or seniors pass available.

Walking Club

Get some exercise and meet new people. Dress for the weather and bring an umbrella. See the schedule that is available at the front desk. Meet in the CNH lobby. No program on public holidays. Check the December‘s Walk Schedule HERE
