Personalised Support

If you have a question and do not know how to find an answer for it, our team of Settlement Workers and volunteers will be able to help you. They may be able to answer your questions or they may refer you to other community services. We provide information for FREE in a variety of languages (English, Chinese, Spanish and Tagalog). We may be able to provide information in other languages through our volunteers.

One-to-One Services

Collingwood Neighbourhood House offers free, one-to-one assessment and referral services for new immigrants in a variety of languages. Our team of settlement workers can help you with:

Courses & Workshops

Life Skills courses, workshops and orientation sessions are available throughout the year, on topics like:

• Basic computer use
• Nutrition and healthy food
• Stress management
• Housing options
• Citizenship preparation
• Health services
• Education processes
• Income taxes

Pre-Employment Services

These services are for new immigrants and refugees. Settlement workers can help you with resume writing, employment resources and referrals.

Employment-related Life Skills courses and workshop sessions are offered throughout the year on topics such as:

• Foreign credentials
• Job-finding strategies
• Resume building
• Computer skills
• Labour Market Opportunities

We provide FREE childminding for the Life Skills Courses.

Settlement Mentoring – ISSofBC

This program provides free matching services for new immigrants with local volunteers (settlement mentors) to help them in their new life in Canada, such as language practice, connections with services and resources in the community and friendship. This program is provided in partnership with Immigrant Services Society of BC. For more information please contact the Dorcas at 604-684-7498 ext. 1632.
