Leadership Development

The work of the RCFSI is raising the community’s awareness of the importance of food and food security for our community. The specific initiatives provide nutritious healthy food for community members, gives them a way to be involved in the community, develop their leadership skills and self confidence, which in turn enables them to work more

 

effectively in the broader community.

Training workshops develop community capacity and community leaders
with training in conflict de-escalation and mental health first aid training the breakfast/shower program, gardening, cooking and mentoring expertise. The leadership teams work with local service providers to mobilize more resources for all the food security programs. New leaders emerge from these initiatives more skills are developed through the mentorship process.
