The community garden is a place of beauty and diversity.
The members care for several common plots which grow ornamental
and edible herbs; a public food boarded on the outside of
the garden fence where those passing by can pick and enjoy
the harvest and a new butterfly boarder. Inside the fence
there are twenty-two plots which have been utilizes by families
and individuals of their own enjoyment and harvest. The garden
members have been apart of many other projects including developing
the Native Berry Trail, Seedy Saturdays and the Collingwood
Days Plants Sales.
How to Become a Gardener
To get on the waiting list for a plot, you must email Heidi
Sinclair at foodsecurity@cnh.bc.ca.
In spring you will be invited to a community garden work party
where you can participate in a community garden event. At
that time available plots will be given out on a first come
first serve bases.
To be a community garden member the plot fee is $20 a year.
As a member in good standing, allotment of your plot is on
a continuing renewal basis. If you intend to renew your plot
or let your plot go, you must inform the community gardens
coordinator. |
